About Dr Tamara Lotan
Dr Tamara Lotan is the Rose-Lee and Keith Reinhard Professor of Urologic Oncology at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she also serves as Director of Research for the Brady Urological Institute. She is a urologic pathologist with a translational research focus on identifying tissue-based biomarkers that support precision diagnostics and prognosis in prostate cancer.
Dr Lotan leads a laboratory investigating molecular drivers of prostate cancer and health disparities. She also conducts separate research into renal oncogenesis, aligned with her interests in mechanistic target of rapamycin signaling. For over a decade, her research has included mechanistic and biomarker studies investigating phosphatase and tensin homolog (PTEN) and prostate cancer, particularly the use of immunohistochemistry to detect PTEN loss in primary disease. She also serves as co-investigator on initiatives supporting early research careers in pathology and maintains an active diagnostic practice focused on genitourinary tumors.
Her work has been widely published and has informed clinical practice and ongoing research into the biological underpinnings of prostate cancer.
